A while ago I announced my love to the bees with a review on Rodial’s Bee Venom products, but today I am putting dragon’s blood instead of bee venom on my face. Before you think I’m crazy, don’t worry, it doesn’t look anything like this:
I am reviewing the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream from Rodial today, the newest addition to the Rodial Dragon’s Blood skin care line. Put on your dragon-fighting armor, grab your sword, and let’s have a look!
The Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream is an anti-aging night cream that contains hyaluronic acid, one of the key ingredients in the battle against skin aging. But that’s not all, because in addition to hyaluronic acid for the ‘XXL hydration’ effect, the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream also contains retinol to boost the skin’s collagen production, turning this product into a ‘plumping moisturiser’. Then there’s also the special chromabright ingredient in the formula that repairs sun damage and brightens age spots and hyperpigmentation. And last but not least the cream also contains Crodarom Dragon’s Blood from the dragon blood tree to soothe and restore the skin.
Damn, so the product doesn’t literally contain dragon’s blood (how totally awesome would that have been?) but instead it contains active ingredients from the slightly less awesome dragon blood tree. Meh, still cool enough.
The Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream comes in a sturdy grapefruit red jar that looks very chic en sleek. It really looks typically Rodial and the packaging alone says high end to me. Inside the jar there’s a little plastic lid that protects the cream from air and humidity.
I immediately noticed how good the cream smells. I can’t really define the smell (dragon’s blood? ;-)) but mmm, it smells nice! It’s a soft delicate scent that smells floral and also a bit fruity. Very pleasant. The smell alone is enough to make me look forward to putting on this cream every night.
The cream itself has a relatively thick texture. It feels really creamy and is easy to spread out. Night creams are always a bit heavier than day creams, and because of my skin type the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream really kind of sits on my skin after I apply it. My oily skin just can’t completely absorb the product, and that makes my face look a bit shiny. Not that it bothers me, because it’s not like anyone can see me when I sleep. And I am too busy dreaming about dragons, wildlings and White Walkers at night anyway to worry about having a shiny face.
I can’t really say that I notice a big difference from using the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream, but that doesn’t mean that the product doesn’t work. Before I started using this night cream, I used the Rodial Bee Venom Moisturiser at night and that really made my skin visibly smoother, fuller and more supple. I get the impression that the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream helps to maintain that effect. And it also actively works on my hyperpigmentation, and that’s a really nice plus. Bottom line? Another Rodial product that I really like, I am happy!
The Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream is available exclusively at Marionnaud and costs 88 CHF.
